A dialogue between generous volumes, natural materials, and architectural transparency, where Patricia Urquiola’s design for B&B Italia takes center stage in the living space.

In this contemporary residence, the architecture is defined by clean lines, large glass surfaces, and a seamless connection to the surrounding landscape. The rooms, characterized by generous proportions and a refined selection of materials, feature a furniture design in which comfort, compositional freedom, and design quality coexist in perfect balance.

The centerpiece of the living area is Tufty-Time, the seating system designed by Patricia Urquiola for B&B Italia, chosen to define the space through an informal, welcoming, and highly distinctive composition.

The distinctive contemporary capitonné upholstery, with its regular sequence of padded sections, gives the sofa an instantly recognizable identity. The soft, generous geometries provide an interesting counterpoint to the architecture’s clean lines, transforming the upholstered piece into a true defining element of the space.

Material, Light, and Proportions

The project is structured around two distinct Tufty-Time compositions, which interact with one another while maintaining their own identities.

The first, upholstered in an anthracite-gray fabric, stands out for its expansive configuration that emphasizes depth, informality, and freedom of use. A sculptural presence—almost a domestic landscape composed of soft surfaces and continuous volumes—it is designed to foster moments of relaxation and togetherness.

The second arrangement, presented in a lighter shade of gray, is situated near the large windows overlooking the greenery. Here, the system takes on a more intimate dimension, offering a privileged vantage point toward the outdoors and enhancing the relationship between the home environment and the landscape.

Tufty-Time’s modularity thus becomes a design tool, capable of articulating different ways of living without compromising the visual continuity of the whole.

The natural oak hardwood floor adds a warm touch that balances the gray tones of the wall coverings and the textured surfaces of the walls. The large, linear fireplace, integrated into the architectural wall, reinforces the contemporary character of the space, while the floor-to-ceiling windows amplify the sense of space.

Natural light floods the living room, casting delicate shadows on the surfaces and highlighting the texture of the fabrics, the depth of the upholstery, and the geometry of the individual modules.

The result is a space where every element contributes to a cohesive design language: the architecture defines the space, the light reveals its qualities, and the furnishings interpret its most personal dimension.

Two definitions of comfort

The choice of Tufty-Time reflects an approach to interior design that considers furniture an integral part of the architectural project, rather than simply an element to be inserted into a space.

Through the selection of configurations, dimensions, and finishes, Arredamenti Bertola highlights the versatility of the system designed by Patricia Urquiola, seeking the right balance between aesthetic appeal, everyday functionality, and comfort.

This project illustrates how an icon of contemporary design can adapt to different spaces and needs while retaining its identity and helping to create authentic, welcoming environments built to last.

Because a successful interior design project does more than simply occupy a space: it gives it character, meaning, and livability.
